Research progress in the role of D-amino acids in oral bacterial biofilms

Abstract
Biofilms are ubiquitous in nature and are related to many chronic infectious diseases.Dental plaque biofilm is a complex multi-species structure composed of aerobic and anaerobic micro-organisms,and is the initiator of dental car-ies,refractory chronic periapical periodontitis,periodontal disease and peri-implantitis.Bacteria in biofilms have unique gene expression and metabolic activities,which make it difficult for antibiotics to exert their antibacterial effects and make it possible to evade the host immune system.In recent years,the inhibitory effect of D-amino acids on biofilm for-mation and the dispersion effect on mature biofilms have been widely studied.The article reviews the research progress in the role of D-amino acids in oral bacterial biofilms,in order to provide new ideas for the development of new therapeu-tic drugs for dental plaque biofilms.关键词
