Abstract
OBJECTIVE To conduct a bibliometric and visual analysis of literature on Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)in the treatment of central serous chorioretinopathy(CSC)using CiteSpace visualization software.METHODS The literature related to TCM treatment of CSC was retrieved from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Medical Network,and VIP Chinese Scientific Journals Database from their inception to February 27th,2024.CiteSpace 6.1.R6 was employed to analyze publication volume,authors,institutions,journals,and keywords,and to generate knowledge maps.Research hotspots and trends were further explored.RESULTS(1)Publication volume:A total of 522 articles were included.Over the past 40 years,the overall publication volume initially showed a rapid increase followed by a gradual decline.(2)Journal publication analysis:The top three journals by publication volume were China Journal of Chinese Ophthalmology(35 articles),Journal of Ophthalmology Combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine(34 articles),and Jiangxi Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine(22 articles).(3)Author analysis:There were 975 authors and 1,047 collaboration links,with a collaboration network density of 0.0022.Core authors numbered 91(9.3%),contributing 137 articles(26.2%).Author collaborations remain relatively sparse,with no highly productive author groups yet formed.(4)Institutional analysis:A total of 458 institutions were identified,with 75 collaboration links and a network density of 0.0007.The institutional collaboration network is fragmented,showing significant regional barriers and no large-scale,cross-provincial research networks.(5)Keyword co-occurrence:303 keywords were extracted,with 1,176 co-occurrence links and a network density of 0.0257.The top three high-frequency keywords were CSC(485 times),integrated TCM and Western Medicine therapy(156 times),and TCM therapy(148 times).(6)Keyword clustering:Cluster analysis revealed eight hot topics:"therapeutic applications""TCM treatment""syndrome differentiation and treatment""clinical experience of renowned physicians""integrated TCM and Western Medicine""laser therapy""macular edema"and"recurrent CSS".(7)Keyword timeline:Keywords such as integrated TCM and Western Medicine therapy and TCM therapy emerged after 1985.Recent keywords include principal symptom-focused method,medication patterns,latent pathogen theory,and constitution.(8)Keyword burst detection:Early burst keywords included promoting blood circulation and removing stasis,while recent bursts were optical coherence tomography(OCT),visual acuity,recurrent CSC,and calcium dobesilate.CONCLUSIONS Current research on TCM for treating CSC remains in a slow development phase.Collaboration across regions and institutions needs strengthening.Further exploration is required in mechanisms of action and the application of TCM external therapies.关键词
