Inheritance and Development of Six-meridian Syndrome Differentiation in Ophthal-mology of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract
Six-meridian Syndrome Differentiation is one of the primary methods of syndrome differentiation and treatment,originated by ZHANG Zhongjing.It evolved from the syndrome differentiation of the six meridians described in the"discussion of heat diseases"section of the Huang Di Nei Jing.It takes the meridians,Zangfu organs,and their Qi transformation activities as the material basis,with Yin and Yang as its framework,and integrates deficiency and excess,exterior and interior,cold and heat.The eyes are vital organs of the human body,sharing a common material basis with the body's tissues and organs,and exhibiting a close relationship between the local and the whole.CHEN Dafu,a renowned ophthalmologist in Sichuan and Chongqing district,in order to achieve more precise clinical diagnoses in Ophthalmology of Traditional Chinese Medicine,drew upon decades of clinical experience in this field to apply six-meridian syndrome differentiation as the framework for diagnosing eye diseases.He formulated the ophthalmic six-meridian syndrome differentiation,emphasizing holism,clarifying pathology,conducting com-prehensive analysis,and simplifying complex issues.This approach guides clinical ophthalmology and represents a significant innovation in Ophthalmology of Traditional Chinese Medicine.This article examines the theoretical basis for applying six-meridian syndrome differentiation in ophthalmology,analyzes the specific characteristics of ophthalmic six-meridian syndrome differentiation,and comprehends the underlying spirit of balancing Yin and Yang,regulating stomach Qi,preserving body fluids,as well as the materialism,holistic view,and dialectics embodied in this methodology.关键词
