Abstract
This study is aimed at exploring the antitussive and expectorant effects of Yinggan granules,providing a basis for conducting clinical trials.To explore the antitussive effect of Yinggan granules,50 KM mice,half male and half female,were randomly divided into a blank group,a positive drug control group,and high-dose,medium-dose,and low-dose Yinggan granules groups.Normal saline,the positive drug,and the test drug were administered orally to each group of mice once daily for seven consecutive days.One hour after the final administration,a simple concentrated ammonia water-induced cough model was established in mice.The cough latency and the number of coughs within 3 minutes were observed and recorded.The results indicated that all dose groups of Yinggan granules could significantly prolong the cough latency induced by concentrated ammonia water in mice(P<0.05),and all treatment groups could significantly reduce the number of coughs within 3 minutes(P<0.05).To investigate the expectorant effect of Yinggan granules,50 KM mice,half male and half female,were randomly divided into a blank group,a positive drug control group,and high-dose,medium-dose,and low-dose Yinggan granules groups.Normal saline,the positive drug,and the test drug were administered orally to each group of mice once daily for seven consecutive days.Thirty minutes after the final administration,0.4 mL of 0.5%phenol red normal saline solution was injected intraperitoneally into the mice.Thirty minutes later,the mice were sacrificed.The amount of phenol red excreted in the trachea of the mice was observed using the respiratory tract phenol red flushing method.The results showed that the amount of phenol red excreted in the tracheas of the positive drug control group,the high-dose and medium-dose Yinggan granules groups was significantly higher than that of the blank group and the low-dose Yinggan granules group(P<0.05),and the amount of phenol red excretion in the high-dose Yinggan granules group was the highest.The results demonstrate that Yinggan granules have obvious antitussive and expectorant effects,among which the high-dose Yinggan granules group exhibit the most significant efficacy.关键词
