Exploring the Traditional Chinese Medicine Connotation of Iron Overloading Mechanism in Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Based on the Theory of"Blood Stasis"

Abstract
Polycystic ovarian syndrome(PCOS)is a common endocrine metabolic disorder,characterized by insulin resistance,hy-perandrogenism,and other abnormalities.In the theoretical framework of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),"blood stasis"is con-sidered as one of the pathological bases of PCOS.Iron overload,a pathological state caused by iron metabolism disorders,highly overlaps with the pathogenesis characteristics and clinical manifestations of the TCM theory of"blood stasis",suggesting the similar-ity between the"blood stasis"theory and the mechanism of iron overload.Meanwhile,the nature of excessive iron deposition in the body and its mechanism of accelerating the occurrence of PCOS are consistent with the pathogenesis of the"blood stasis"theory.Animal experimental studies have suggested that iron overload is a risk factor for exacerbating the development of PCOS,indicating that iron overload may be an important mechanistic basis for treating PCOS with the"blood stasis"theory.This article explores the TCM implications of the iron overload mechanism in PCOS based on the"blood stasis"theory,elucidating the correlation between iron overload and PCOS"blood stasis"from the aspects of source,pathological manifestations,and pathogenic characteristics.It aims to provide a new perspective for studying the pathogenesis of PCOS and potentially novel approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.关键词
