Design in the Perspective of the Epistemology of Practice
摘要
Abstract
Triggered by the empirical turn in the philosophy of technology,the consequent design turn has emerged,rendering design an issue of paramount importance that is intricately intertwined with human survival.Design serves as a distinctive and unique mode through which human beings exist in the world.At its very core,it is firmly oriented towards the transformation of the world.This notion of transformation inherently entails practice,which unfailingly adheres to the epistemology of practice.Significantly,the epistemology of design is an integral and inseparable part of the epistemology of practice.The epistemology of practice,in turn,offers a brand-new and innovative perspective for the in-depth examination of design.When we embark on the exploration and examination of design within the broad and profound horizon of the epistemology of practice,it can be comprehensively carried out from three distinct yet interrelated dimensions:epistemology,the theory of action,and axiology.The cognitive and contemplative aspect of design,that is,the thinking in design,is inherently and inherently directed towards action.As such,the epistemology of design inevitably and inexorably progresses towards the theory of design action.In the realm and sphere of design action,human beings'rationality and choices,which are inherently imbued and saturated with a strong sense of purposefulness,are vividly and manifestly demonstrated.Through the intricate and complex process of making choices,the execution and fulfillment of innate desires are successfully accomplished.This,in turn,unleashes and transmits a powerful and dynamic creative force that plays a pivotal and crucial role in constructing and shaping the lived and experienced world of the Dasein.The axiology of design bestows upon human existence profound and far-reaching significance,which primarily lies in the in-depth and meticulous interrogation of facts and the profound and reflective contemplation on values.In other words,under the dual and guiding principles of the unwavering pursuit of truth and the steadfast aspiration towards goodness,it propels and encourages continuous efforts in the realms of inventing,realizing,and creating the very essence and nature of humanity.The ultimate and core value interest of realizing design is fundamentally centered around the concept of value alignment.By means of readjusting and recalibrating value rationality,it effectively and efficiently restrains and curbs the excessive and unchecked expansion of instrumental rationality.This intricate process aims to achieve a delicate and harmonious balance between these two distinct forms of rationality,thereby presenting and unveiling a well-structured and coherent design order.For a design to be deemed excellent and outstanding,it is absolutely imperative to have a thoughtful and deliberate readjustment of value rationality.It is of utmost importance to note that this readjustment is not merely about conforming and adapting to the values of an individual.Instead,it takes into comprehensive consideration the overall and overarching values as well as the common and shared values of humanity.Moreover,this readjustment is not a one-time or static and fixed process.On the contrary,it dynamically and continuously unfolds and evolves in tandem with the truth-seeking experiments and endeavors in design.Only in this way can design perpetually maintain its unwavering orientation towards goodness.In-depth theoretical research and exploration regarding design are not merely an academic mission and obligation but are,more significantly,intimately and closely related to the destiny and fate of humanity.Meanwhile,the extensive and widespread innovative activities in the real and practical realm seemingly appear to be gradually transforming into actions that carry certain anti-utopian connotations and implications for human development.In response to this concerning situation,it is essential and necessary to revert to the very essence of the relationship between human beings and the world and to design the destiny of humanity.This should be carried out under the solemn and sacred banner of morality,accompanied by a cautious and prudent selection of the environment and facts.Consequently,the genuine and authentic responsibility lies in our inevitable and unavoidable need to transform and innovate our epistemology.Moreover,the development of humanity is an ongoing and uncompleted undertaking.Design,from its primordial and initial stages,has been an inherent way of human generation and emergence.The scrutiny and examination of design,from the perspective of existentialism,offers a specific and insightful viewpoint.Design not only creates the mode and manner of human existence but also continuously invents,realizes,and creates itself,driving forward the continuous progress and evolution of human civilization.关键词
