Abstract

To address the emission of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)during the use of coatings for equipment protection in chemical industry parks,a typical chemical industry park was selected as the research object.A detailed investigation was carried out on the painting operations within 38 enterprises and on the public pipe racks therein,and a corresponding calculation model was established to quantify the VOCs emissions during the use of coatings.The results show that in 2021,the total annual amount of various coatings used in the park is 220.16 t.Among the painting operations within enterprises,the proportion of epoxy resin coatings used is the highest,reaching 55.47%,followed by acrylic resin coatings and polyurethane coatings,with proportions of 19.92%and 15.17%,respectively.The proportion of water-based coatings used in the park is relatively low,accounting for only 17.1%of the total amount of coatings used.The annual VOCs emissions during the use of coatings are approximately 53.21 t,of which 87.56%originate from the painting operations within enterprises and 12.44%from the painting operations on public pipe racks.The average annual VOCs emissions of a single enterprise is 1.23 t,which is equivalent to the emission level of a first-class automobile repair enterprise.The VOCs emission during the use of coatings accounts for approximately 4.03%of the total pollutant discharge amount permitted for enterprises in the park,and the total ozone formation potential is approximately 99.28 t.Their contributions to emissions cannot be ignored.
