Research on influence of change of center gravity on ship maneuverability based on body force method

Abstract
Taking Kriso container ship(KCS)taken as the research object,RANS(Reynolds-veraged Navier-Stokes)method and body force propeller method were used to simulate the self-propelled maneuver motion of KCS with different center of gravity.First,the turning maneuver motion and zig-zag maneuver motion of KCS under designed conditions were simulated,and the differences of simulation results between the H-O body force method,BEM(blade element theory)body force method,and real propeller method were compared.Then,based on the BEM body force method,the turning maneuver motion and zig-zag maneuver motion with different center of gravity were simulated.Results show that compared with H-O body force method,the thrust calculated by BEM body force method is closer to that calculated by real propeller method,and BEM body force method can consider the lateral force of the propeller.The change of center gravity not only significantly affects the ship maneuverability in the horizontal plane,but also has a significant impact on the ship roll motion.The coupling effect between the ship maneuverability in the horizontal plane and the ship roll motion cannot be ignored.关键词
