Abstract

Polar Weather Research and Forecasting model(Polar WRF)is one of the important means to carry out atmospheric research in polar regions due to the limitation of atmospheric observation and the harsh natural environment there.In this paper,Polar WRF 4.1.1 model was used to simulate near-surface meteorological elements over the East Antarctic Ice Sheet from March 2020 to March 2021,and the applicability of three boundary layer parameterization schemes in the model was evaluated.The hourly routine surface meteoro-logical observation data of four automatic weather stations(AWS)located from coast to dome in the East Antarctic Ice Sheet was analyzed and verified.The results show that the ACM2 scheme has the best simula-tion effect on relative humidity,wind speed and air pressure(The deviations are-12.53%,-1.38 m·s-1 and 0.37 hPa,respectively),and the overall simulation effect is the best at the coastal sites,considering the mul-ti-layer structure of heat and turbulent flux.At inland stations,the strong non-local action of ACM2 and YSU schemes increases the turbulent mixing guided by thermal forcing,and the simulation results are better.At Dome A site,the underlying surface type is relatively simple,and the local scheme(MYJ)has the best simulation effect on temperature and wind speed(The deviations are 3.32℃and 3.76 m·s-1,respectively).The results of this study have important reference value for the improvement of the polar boundary layer parameterization scheme and the systematic development of the polar boundary layer numerical simulation in the future.
