Assessment of the Ecological Effect of Smart City Construction:Quasi-Natural Experiment Based on the National Smart City Pilot

摘要

Abstract

In the age of digital economy,the organic integration of the new generation of information technology and urban construction is conducive to overcoming the negative externalities of agglomeration economy and producing good ecological effects.This article is based on the list of national pilot projects for smart city construction,and uses various methods such as propensity score matching double difference(PSM-DID)to evaluate the ecological effects of smart city construction.The research indicates that the construction of smart cities significantly promotes the ecological development of cities in the fields of environment,economy,and society,thereby improving the level of urban ecological health.The mechanism test shows that smart city construction has positive ecological effects through three channels:promoting the exit of polluting enterprises,stimulating green technology innovation,and promoting human capital accumulation.
