Abstract
In 2024,Chinese academic journals of philosophy and social sciences published numerous articles,focusing on topics such as Xi Jinping's Thought on Culture,the Spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC),the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China,the 45th Anniversary of China's Reform and Opening-up.In collaboration with relevant journals,competent Chinese authorities and China periodicals association organized a series of activities that received positive responses.Several new journals were launched,filling gaps in the related fields.Assessment results published by journal evaluation organizations attracted increasing attention.For instance,Peking University Library published A Guide to the Core Journals of China(2023 Version);and Information Center for Social Sciences of Renmin University of China(RUC)published the photocopied periodicals(2023 version).The Conference on High Quality Development of Philosophy and Social Sciences Journals,held at Nanjing University,launched"Overseas Publication Programme of Highly Influential Achievements of Philosophy and Social Sciences Journals of Chinese Universities","The First Batch of Young Scholars'Friendly Journals"and"Nanjing Initiative on Quality Development of Philosophy and Social Sciences Journals".These initiatives promote the construction of the journal community of philosophy and social sciences.The application of artificial intelligence(AI)to academic thesis writing,reviewing,and the associated risks began to attract the attention of philosophy and social sciences journals.As a trial for digital transformation of academic journals,the launch of academic platforms,particularly the selection and promotion of classic literature and preprints in philosophy and social sciences,has gained attention from academics and journals.Philosophy and social sciences journals have made progresses in the development of key columns,serving exemplary roles.Meanwhile,these journals face challenges from AI,such as shrinking issuance,insufficient integrated development,and homogenized content.To address these challenges,practically feasible measures should be implemented for academic journals of philosophy and social sciences in talent cultivation,differentiated journal operation,strengthening the efforts in integration development,and reinforcing topic planning.Given the content-driven nature of the publishing industry,editorial capabilities form the core competitiveness.Therefore,it is essential to strengthen talent development and enhance editors'professional skills and literacy.Despite the relatively modest economic scale of philosophy and social sciences academic journals,the critical mission of these journals renders them a vital undertaking.Confronting challenges and severe circumstances,practitioners in this field must rigorously refine their expertise,foster sincere collaboration,and build a cohesive community of philosophy and social sciences academic journals.These measures will empower philosophy and social sciences journals to significantly contribute to constructing China's indigenous knowledge system and advancing"Three Major Systems",disciplinary system,academic system,and discourse system,of philosophy and social sciences with distinctive Chinese characteristics.关键词
