Effects of probiotics and multivitamins on reproductive performance,colostrum composition,plasma biochemical and immune indices of Danish sows

Abstract
The study aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with probiotics and multivitamins on the reproductive performance,colostrum composition,plasma immune,and biochemical indices of Danish sows.A total of 80 Danish big white sows(30±3)days before delivery with three parity and similar expected date were selected and randomly divided into four groups,with four replicates per group and five sows per replicate.The control group was fed a basal diet,while groups A,B,and C were supplemented with 0.10%probiotics+0.02%multivitamins,0.15%probiotics+0.02%multivitamins,and 0.20%probiotics+0.02%multivitamins,respectively.The trial lasted for 60 days.The results showed that compared to the control group,backfat loss during lactation was significantly increased in groups B and C(P<0.05),while the weaning litter weight was significantly higher in groups A and B(P<0.05).The weaning age of piglets in group B was significantly lower than in other groups(P<0.05),and the 30-day weaning survival rate was significantly higher than in other groups(P<0.05).The number of weaned piglets per litter in group B was significantly higher than in the control and group C(P<0.05).The colostrum fat and protein concentrations in groups B and C were significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05).On day 15 pre-farrowing and day 14 post-farrowing,the plasma concentrations of total protein(TP),albumin(ALB),and immunoglobulin G(IgG)in groups B and C were significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05),while interleukin-6(IL-6)content were significantly lower than in the control group(P<0.05).Plasma alanine aminotransferase(ALT)activity in group B was significantly higher than in other groups(P<0.05),and immunoglobulin M(IgM)content was significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05).Plasma tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)content in the experimental groups was significantly lower than in the control group(P<0.05).On day 15 pre-farrowing,plasma aspartate aminotransferase(AST)activity in group B was significantly higher than in group A and the control group(P<0.05).On day 14 post-farrowing,plasma immunoglobulin A(IgA)content in groups B and C was significantly higher than in other groups(P<0.05),while interleukin-2(IL-2)content was significantly lower than in the control group(P<0.05).The study indicates that dietary supplementation with probiotics and multivitamins can improve the reproductive performance,enhance colostrum composition,and boost immune function of Danish sows,with group B(0.15%probiotics+0.02%multivitamins)showing the best results.关键词
