Abstract

Landslide-generated impulse waves(LGIWs)pose significant risks to the safe operation of mountain reservoirs.Understanding the characteristics and influencing factors of the impulse waves generated by landslides in V-shaped river channels is crucial for disaster prevention and mitigation.This study uses the computational fluid dynamics software FLOW3D to investigate the LGIWs that occur in V-shaped river channels.Considering various factors such as landslide volume,velocity,water depth,slope angle,and friction coefficient,a total of 35 numerical models are built using the control variable method.The dynamic processes of impulse wave generation and the height of the leading wave are analyzed.The simulation results are validated by the comparison with empirical formulas.Then the influence of each factor on the leading wave height is systematically analyzed.The results indicate that water depth and friction coefficient are negatively correlated with the wave height,while landslide volume,velocity and slope angle exhibit the positive correlation with the wave height.The impact ranking of these factors on the height of the leading wave follows the order:velocity>landslide volume>slope angle>water depth>friction coefficient.This study provides a useful reference for the hazard assessment and management of LGIWs in mountain reservoirs.
