Effects of Supplementing Different Selenium Sources in Laying Hen Diets on Selenium Deposition and Oxidative Stability of Egg Yolk

Abstract
The experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of supplementing different selenium(Se)sources in laying hen diets on selenium deposition and oxidative stability of egg yolk.A total of 450 healthy 65-week-old Roman laying hens with similar laying rates(92.52%±1.47%)were randomly divided into 5 dietary treatments with 6 replicates of 15 hens per replicate Dietary treatments included the basal diet(diet without exogenous Se supplementation,CON)and basal diets supplemented with 0.3 mg/kg Se from sodium selenite(SS),0.3 mg/kg Se from selenium-enriched yeast(SEY),0.3 mg/kg Se from selenium-enriched Cardamine violifolia(SEC),or 0.3 mg/kg Se from selenium-enriched yeast and 0.3 mg/kg Se from selenium-enriched Cardamine violifolia(SEC+SEY).The pretest period was 7 d,and the breeding period was 56 d.The results showed that dietary SEY or SEC+SEY supplementation increased the Se content in plasma and muscle of hens compared with CON group.Moreover,the Se content in plasma and muscle in SEC+SEY group was higher than that in SS and SEC group.The Se concentration in yolk from hens fed Se supplemented diet was higher than those from hens fed a basal diet after 28 d.Compared to CON group,the hens fed SS,SEY and SEC+SEY diets had higher Se concentration in yolk after 56 d.Furthermore,the Se concentration in yolk from hens fed SEC+SEY diet was higher than those from hens fed SS,SEY and SEC diets.Compared to CON group,dietary SEY,SEC and/or SEC+SEY supplementation increased the activities of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)and total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)in yolk at 28 d and 56 d.However,SEY,SEC and SEC+SEY supplementation significantly decreased yolk malondialdehyde(MDA)at 56 d.These results demonstrated that dietary supplementation with different Se sources improved Se deposition in tissues and egg yolks.SEC+SEY showed higher Se transfer to tissues and egg yolks than SS and SEC.Dietary supplementation with SEY,SEC and/or SEC+SEY increased yolk antioxidant capacity by improving the activities of antioxidant enzymes and inhibiting lipid peroxidation.关键词
