Textile,The Magic of Women——From Culture,History and Art to Talk About the Connection between Women and Textiles
摘要
Abstract
This theme"care and empowerment through textile practice"led me to think deeply about women's empowerment and textiles.As the course progressed we learned different techniques of needlework and learned about the history and stories of textiles in different cultures.The African women enslaved on the estates of the American South made quilts to regain their freedom;Japanese women use the technique of mending gave new meaning to old clothes;the art of Arpilleras from Chile women went from documenting everyday life moments to being a weapon against racism.All of those led me to become interested in the connection between women and textiles.Figuring out the reasons for this ingrained metaphor between textiles and women will help achieve female empowerment through textiles.This paper will discuss"weaving is women's work"from different perspectives.关键词
