Survey on the Diversity of Mammals and Birds by Using Infrared Camera Technology—Taking Menglun Nature Reserve in Xishuangbanna,Yunnan Province as an Example

摘要

Abstract

From March 2023 to March 2024,an infrared camera was used to investigate the mammal and bird resources in Menglun Nature Reserve,Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve,Yunnan Province.Using ArcMap 10.8 software,the nature reserve was divided into sever-al 1 km2 grids and 40 infrared cameras were placed.The effective working days of 7 280 days were accumulated,a total of 2 753 valid inde-pendent photos were captured,among which there were 8 769 photos of mammals(57.05%)and 6 088 photos of birds(39.61%).73 spe-cies of wild animals were identified,belonging to 36 families,13 orders.Among them,there were 24 species of mammals(belonging to 15 families,6 orders)and 49 species of birds(belonging to 21 families,7 orders).There were 6 species of first-class protected wild animals in China,including Arctictis binturong,Manis pentadactyla,Macaca leonina,Viverra zibetha,Cuon alpinus and Polyplectron bicalcaratum.The five mammals with higher relative richness index(RAI)were Dremomys rufigenis(RAI=5.01),Muntiacus muntjak(RAI=3.10),Martes flavigula(RAI=3.02),Herpestes urva(RAI=1.85),Tupaia belangeri(RAI=1.75).The five bird species with higher relative richness index(RAI)were Larvivora cyane(RAI=5.62),Copsychus malabaricus(RAI=3.02),Chalcophaps indica(RAI=3.01),Gallus gallus(RAI=1.68),Lophura nythemera(RAI=1.41).It was suggested to develop a biodiversity monitoring system for the Menglunzi Nature Reserve in Xishuangbanna,Yunnan Province(2023-2028),establish a standardized and field monitoring network covering the entire protected area,analyze the causes of biodiversity changes,predict the change trends in biodiversity,and achieve long-term monitoring and scientific evaluation of the dynamics of animal and bird resources,so as to provide the data support and scientific basis for the development of scientific and reason-able management plans.
