摘要
Abstract
With the rapid expansion of urban boundaries, the urban-rural fringe,as a transitional zone within the"urban-rural dual"structure, faces issues such as vague definitions, imprecise boundaries, and challenges in land space planning. This paper utilized nighttime satellite light intensity and the density of point of interest(POI)to construct a coupling index,INP,for distinguishing urban and rural areas.A profile line trend analysis was conducted, and the point of maximum decay of the urban influence distance was selected as the boundary point for the urban-rural transition. The range formed by the set of boundary points was then precisely vectorized and compared with high-resolution satellite data and urban planning data for validation. This method formed an accurate monitoring and identification method for the urban-rural fringe, integrating nighttime satellite imagery and POI.The method was applied to monitor and analyze the urban-rural fringe of the main urban area in Shantou,Guangdong. The research results are as follows.① The total area of the urban-rural fringe in the study area is 43.4 km²,with a monitoring accuracy of 87.7%.The main reason for classification confusion is the mixed pixels of farmland and urban land in the urban-rural fringe area.② The urban-rural fringe in the study area has a 10.5%lower infrastructure balance compared to urban areas, but the average population density is 6.8%higher than in urban areas. The findings of this study can provide decision-making references for urban planning and management departments in adjusting urban functional planning and conducting comprehensive governance of the urban-rural fringe.关键词
