Abstract

Sinian dolomites are important exploration horizons in the deep to ultra-deep carbonates in China.Tarim Basin and Sichuan Basin have relatively similar sedimentary filling sequences and petroleum geological conditions.Thus,it is of great significance to carry out a comparative study of the dolomite reservoirs of the Upper Sinian in these two basins to deepen our understanding of the genesis of large-scale reservoirs.Taking diagenetic sedimentary characteristics as the main focus,combined with reservoir characteristics,the development conditions of the Upper Sinian Qigebrak Formation in Tarim Basin and the Upper Sinian Dengying Formation in Sichuan Basin are comprehensively analyzed.The results show that the tectonic-sedimentary paleogeographic framework of Tarim Basin during the Sinian period was significantly different from that of Sichuan Basin,where paleogeographic fluctuations were greater during the Dengying period,which was more conducive to the formation of initial pores.In addition,the Qigebrak and Denying Formations have relatively similar diagenetic evolution histories,where in both,early seawater dolomitization made a positive contribution to the formation of reservoirs.However,multiple stages of early supergene dissolution and hydrocarbon charging events occurred in the Dengying Formation,which were conducive to the formation and preservation of pores.Future exploration of the Qigebrak Formation should focus on the area where a karstified zone in the uppermost Sinian has developed,which is associated with microbial buildup.This study provides guidance for oil and gas exploration of Sinian dolomites in China.
