Sequence stratigraphy framework and sedimentary filling patterns of Tarim Basin in the Lower-Middle Cambrian

Abstract
This study divides and compares the third-order sequence of the Lower-Middle Cambrian evaporite-carbonate rock system based on field outcrops and current drilling data by identifying the key sequence interfaces in Tarim Basin.Within the sequence stratigraphic framework,the sedimentary filling process and spatial distribution characteristics of the Lower-Middle Cambrian are discussed.Our study shows that the Lower-Middle Cambrian can be divided into two second-order sequences,corresponding to the Lower Cambrian and Middle Cambrian.The Lower Cambrian is further divided into three third-order sequences(SQⅠ~SQⅢ),and the Middle Cambrian is further divided into two third-order sequences(SQⅣ,SQⅤ).Sequence I was deposited under an argillaceous ramp background with higher mud content in deep water.Sequence Ⅱ was deposited in a carbonate ramp with microbial mounds and grain shoals.Sequence Ⅲ as deposited in a mixed carbonate ramp,while Sequence Ⅲ developed in a mixed ramp,where the sea level covered the entire basin,causing a high content of terrigenous debris in the sediments therein.Sequence Ⅳ developed in a poorly rimmed platform with microbial mounds,and grain shoals developed in the platform's margin.An intra-platform formation evolved from open platforms,which restricted the platform type to evaporative.Sequence Ⅴ evolved into a strongly rimmed platform with a higher degree of platform rimming.The distribution range of the intra-evaporative platform and restricted platform expanded.Generally,sequences Ⅰ~Ⅴevolved from argillaceous ramps and carbonate ramps to rimmed carbonate platforms.关键词
