Abstract

[Objective]In the context of tightening carbon emission regulations and rising carbon prices,comprehensively considering carbon emission costs when formulating coal procurement strategies is of positive significance for the economic operation of power plants.[Methods]Based on data collected from coal-fired power plants,this study analyzes the factors influencing coal consumption and carbon emission intensity for power supply,establishes a database for the carbon emission intensity per unit of power supply,and develops a comprehensive power supply cost analysis method that considers coal cost,carbon emission cost,and desulfurization cost.[Results]The study finds that the type of unit and load are the most significant factors affecting coal consumption for electricity generation,while the difference in coal consumption per unit of electricity generation between different coal types is less than 1%,making the impact almost negligible.The carbon emission intensity per unit of electricity generation mainly depends on the carbon content of the coal.Under current market conditions,coal procurement costs account for more than 70%,carbon emission costs account for over 20%,while the impact of sulfur emission control costs on overall electricity generation costs is almost negligible(<1%).[Conclusion]When formulating coal procurement strategies,it is recommended to first select a cost benchmark coal based on operational experience,then calculate the boundary price of the proposed coaltype,and finally compare it with the actual market price to determine the optimal procurement decision..This strategy can effectively reduce carbon emissions while ensuring economic viability,which is of great significance for the sustainable development of power plants.
