Institutional Openness,Foreign Trade Upgrading,and ESG of Export Enterprises

Abstract
Institutional openness is an important measure to build a new development pattern of domestic and international dual circulation.This article explores the impact of institutional openness on ESG of export enterprises using the pilot policy of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone and the triple difference model.Research has found that cross-border e-commerce pi-lot zones significantly promote the ESG performance of export enterprises.This conclusion still holds true after a series of robustness tests.Further mechanism exploration reveals that the cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone promotes the establishment of new foreign trade supply chain relationships among export enterprises,which in turn actively affects the improvement of ESG per-formance of Chinese export enterprises.Heterogeneity analysis reveals the differences in policy effectiveness:the promotion effect of cross-border e-commerce pilot zones on ESG is more significant in state-owned,non heavily polluting,and non high-tech indus-tries.These findings not only enrich the theory of institutional openness and corporate ESG,but also provide empirical evidence and strategic insights for deepening China's institutional openness,implementing precise policies to promote foreign trade upgrading,and enhancing the ESG level of export enterprises in the future.关键词
