Abstract

In this study,using alfalfa seeds as the test material,and in the soil environment of loess,various sowing methods were employed to investigate the effects of sowing methods,seed density,and sowing depth on alfalfa seed germination and seedling growth.The results indicated that when the sowing depth was 1 cm,broadcast sowing performed better than mixed sowing.However,when the sowing depth exceeded 1 cm,mixed sowing was more effective.There was a positive correlation between mixed sowing density and vegetation coverage rate within a certain range and the optimal seed density under the experimental conditions was 60 g/m2.There was a negative correlation between mixed sowing depth and vegetation coverage,with the appropriate mixed sowing depth ranging from 1-3 cm.Vegetation coverage was positively correlated with the development of soil cracks.The sowing method had a significant impact on alfalfa seed germination and seedling growth.The findings of this study could facilitate the engineering application of alfalfa in loess areas and provide guidance for ecological protection techniques on loess slopes.
