Abstract

s:To investigate the effects of corn stalk biochar and Bacillus on the growth of greenhouse tomatoes and soil properties,a study was conducted in a greenhouse with 12 years of continuous tomato cultivation.The study explored the impacts of applying corn stalk biochar alone(B),Bacillus alone(M),and a combination of corn stalk biochar and Bacillus(BM)on tomato growth,soil nutrients,soil enzyme activity,and soil microbial communities.The results showed that the M treatment significantly increased tomato fruit weight,yield,and vitamin C content by 28.05%,32.59%,and 13.63%,respectively compared with that of the control(CK).Additionally,available potassium content,catalase activity,and alkaline phosphatase activity in the soil during the maturation period increased by 76.69%,16.11%,and 7.51%,respectively.The BM treatment significantly increased soil bacterial and fungal Sobs values by 5.12%and 3.93%,respectively.Compared with the B treatment,the M treatment significantly increased tomato yield,available potassium content,catalase activity,and alkaline phosphatase activity in the soil during the maturation period by 26.67%,35.83%,13.87%,and 7.64%,respectively.The BM treatment significantly increased the soil fungal Sobs value by 3.09%.Compared with the M treatment,the BM treatment significantly decreased the available potassium content in the soil during the maturation period by 23.85%,while significantly increased the fungal and bacterial Sobs values by 5.06%and 5.81%,respectively.The application of Bacillus alone effectively improved tomato quality and yield,as well as soil properties.The combination of corn stalk biochar and Bacillus was more effective in enhancing soil microbial community diversity and richness.
