Abstract

Measuring water flow velocity and discharge is a key challenge in hydrological research.In recent years,video-based flow measurement technology has rapidly gained application and development,attracting increasing attention from re-searchers.The paper compared and evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of six major video-based flow measurement technologies:Particle Image Velocimetry(PIV),Large-Scale Particle Image Velocimetry(LSPIV),Particle Tracking Velocime-try(PTV),Optical Flow(OP),Scale-Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT),and Spatiotemporal Image Velocimetry(STIV).It summarized the applicability of each technology in different application scenarios,as well as their potential in hydrological re-search and water resource management.The goal was to provide a comprehensive overview of video-based flow measurement technologies for researchers and decision-makers,fostering the development and application of these technologies.
