Process mineralogy of granite-type lithium deposits in western Jiangxi province

Abstract
A considerable number of granite-type lithium resources have been newly discovered in western Jiangxi province for the past few years.In order to determine the occurrence state and process mineralogical characteristics of lithium,systematic research of process mineralogy on large-scale granite-type mica lithium deposits was carried out by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and mineral automatic quantitative analysis(MLA).The study comprised mineral composition,physico-chemical properties,mineral dissemination size,and element occurrence status.The research results indicated that lithium occurred in mica,montebrasite,and cookeite accounting for 93.88%,0.16%and 0.30%,respectively,while lithium in quartz and feldspar accounted for 5.66%.The mica was mainly trilithionite,followed by lepidolite(with a ratio of 9.5∶1).The mica dissemination size was relatively coarse,mainly distributed in the range of 0.16~2.56 mm.After grinding,the dissociation degree for different granularity mica was above 90%,with relative enrichment in the 0.3 mm particle size.Lepidolite and trilithionite were recovered in mineral processing.The average grade of Li2O for lepidolite concentrate was 1.30%,and the theoretical recovery rate of lithium was 93.88%.The relationship between lithium content and magnetism in mica shows that high-intensity magnetic separation could improve the lithium content in the mica flotation concentrate.关键词
