Relationship between adolescent peer victimization and prospective memory:mediating role of negative emotions
摘要
Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of adolescent peer bullying on prospective memory, and investigate the mediating role of negative emotions. Methods A total of 1 229 students from two middle schools in Tai'an City,Shandong Province were investigated by using prospective and retrospective memory questionnaire, multidimensional offline and online peer victimization scale, patient health questionnaire, and generalized anxiety disorder self-rating scale. The relevant data were statistically analyzed. Results Both online and offline peer victimization were positively associated with prospective memory impairment.Adolescents who were bullied only offline or both online and offline had higher scores on prospective memory than those who were not bullied. Both online and offline peer victimization had a significant mediating effect on depression and prospective memory, and the mediating effect was 0.19,accounting for 59.4%and 67.9%of the total effect, respectively. Conclusion Adolescents who suffer from peer victimization, especially those who only suffer from offline peer victimization and those who suffer from both online and offline peer victimization, are more likely to have prospective memory impairment.Depressive mood plays a mediating role in the relationship between peer victimization and prospective memory.关键词
