Abstract
Appearance anxiety generally refers to the concern that an individual may or expects to receive negative evaluations of their appearance from others.It is associated not only with mental disorders such as social anxiety,body dysmorphic disorder,and eating disorders,but also with anxiety and depression symptoms,body dissatisfaction,low self-esteem,maladaptive attitudes towards sports,unhealthy exercise behaviors,and social avoidance in the general population.However,there are differences in the connotation and extension of appearance anxiety both domestically and overseas,and the measurement tools used also have their own emphases.This article summarizes and proposes a more comprehensive concept of appearance anxiety by sorting out and comparing the relevant concepts and main measurement tools used at home and abroad.Developing appearance anxiety measurement tools that are suitable for various populations in China will be an important direction for future research.关键词
