Intermittent fasting reduces alveolar bone resorption in periodontitis mice via NF-κB pathway

Abstract
Objective:To investigate whether intermittent fasting can alleviate alveolar bone resorption in periodonti-tis mice and explore possible molecular mechanisms.Methods:Periodontitis mice were randomly divided into two groups,with the control group mice being able to eat freely,the experimental group received intermittent fasting.After 8 weeks,maxil-la was obtained for Micro-CT and H&E staining,and the mandible was obtained for Western Blot and qRT-PCR test.Results:Micro-CT and H&E staining showed the alveolar bone resorption area of mice in intermittent fasting group was significantly reduced.Western Blot showed a significant decrease in p-P65/P65 protein expression in periodontal tissue in the intermittent fasting group.qRT-PCR showed that the gene expression of Il-1β,Tnf-α,Mmp-9,C-fos,and Nfatc1 in the intermittent fasting group was significantly reduced..Conclusion:Intermittent fasting can alleviate alveolar bone resorption in periodontitis mice,and its mechanism may be through the inhibition of NF-κB pathway.关键词
