Abstract
The Chinese idiom"wu xiang wang"(no forgetting someone 无相忘)was a commonly used expression in the Han Dynasty, with distinct usage scenarios and cultural connotations in its two primary forms, namely,"Achieving wealth and rank, let there be no forgetting",and"Endless longing, let there be no forgetting."Wealth and rank was a common wish of people at that time, and the promise of"no forgetting"after achieving wealth and rank represented a positive social ideal. The desire for assistance in hankering for the wealth and rank profoundly influenced social life, not only among ordinary people but also among upper-class rulers, who often entrusted each other with this promise. This practice of mutual support was widely applied in the pursuit of wealth creation.Longing was the theme of the emotional lives of separated lovers, and"no forgetting"was their good promise.Couples'desire for each other's loyalty represented a higher level of emotional experience and pursuit, showing their longing for a happy family relationship. The popularity of the idiom"no forgetting"was related to the uncertainty of fate during the social changes, which was a reflection of the social beliefs at that time and reflected the romantic atmosphere of the spiritual life of the Han people.关键词
