A Multi-Case Study on the Digital Transformation of the Manufacturing Innovation Ecosystem

Abstract
The digital transformation of the manufacturing sector is currently experiencing a decelera-tion in its evolution and a systemic shift in competitive dynamics.Establishing a digital innovation eco-system represents a crucial strategy for the manufacturing industry to navigate the challenges of trans-formation and cultivate a robust digital competitive landscape.Consequently,the digital transforma-tion of the manufacturing industry's innovation ecosystem has emerged as a pivotal area of focus.To investigate the underlying logic governing this transformation,we conducted a systematic analysis uti-lizing grounded theory and multiple case studies to explore the multi-factor coupling pathways in-volved in this process.This study elucidates the intricate connotations associated with the digital trans-formation of the manufacturing industry's innovation ecosystem from a systemic perspective.Our find-ings indicate that,once digital technologies are integrated into this ecosystem,key stakeholders,resources,and structural attributes significantly affect performance through processes of knowl-edge restructuring.Furthermore,it was observed that these characteristics positively correlate with transformational performance while knowledge restructuring acts as an intermediary linking them to performance outcomes;additionally,environmental factors play a moderating role in this relationship.The conclusions drawn from our research illuminate and validate the"black box"mechanism by which characteristics of the manufacturing industry's innovation ecosystem impact transformational performance-thereby enriching scholarly discourse on industrial digitization—and offering theoretical insights for fostering and developing effective digital innovation ecosystems within this sector.关键词
