Effects of different environmental factors on longevity of Hylurgus ligniperda adults

Abstract
To clarify the adaptability of Hylurgus ligniperda adults to different environmental conditions,the newly emerged adults were reared under different temperature,humidity,nutritional restriction,and photoperiod conditions to investigate the effects of different environmental factors on the longevity of the H.ligniperda adults.The results indicated that the adults had the longest longevity under conditions of 25℃,relative humidity of 65%,normal feeding on fresh bark and complete darkness.The maximum longevity of adults could reach 292 days,and the average longevity was(71.8±16.2)d.At 35℃,the maximum longevity of adults could reach 14 days,the average longevity was(9.1±0.6)days.At the low humidity of 40%RH,the adults demonstrated a maximum longevity of 106 days,the average longevity was(54.0±6.5)d.Under nutritional restriction,the maximum longevity of adults could reach 24 days,the average longevity was(11.7±1.0)d.Under photoperiod of 16L∶8D,the adults demonstrated a maximum longevity of 134 days,the average longevity was(48.5±7.9)d.High temperature,low humidity,starvation and photoperiod of 16L∶8D could significantly reduce the longevity of H.ligniperda adults.关键词
