Road Performance Evaluation of SMA-7 Asphalt Mixture with High Skid-resistance in Hot and Humid Area

Abstract
To improve the skid resistance of asphalt pavements in hot and humid areas,88#calcined bauxite was used to design a high skid-resistant SMA-7 asphalt mixture for road surfaces.The optimal dosage of calcined bauxite was determined using the grey target decision-making theory,and the road performance of SMA-7 was evaluated.Based on optimizing the gradation range of SMA-7 mineral aggregates,the appropriate amount of 88#calcined bauxite was determined.The rutting test,low-temperature beam bending test,and freeze-thaw splitting test were conducted to evaluate the high-temperature stability,low-temperature crack resistance,and water stability of SMA-7.The specimens were abraded multiple times using a three-wheel polishing device,and the dynamic friction coefficient was measured with a dynamic friction tester under different simulated speed conditions to investigate the evolution of the skid resistance of the SMA-7 asphalt mixture.By comprehensively considering various performance indicators of the asphalt mixtures,the optimal dosage of 88#calcined bauxite in the asphalt mixtures was calculated using the grey target decision-making theory.The results show that partially replacing limestone with 88#calcined bauxite can significantly improve the overall road performance of SMA-7 asphalt mixtures,with the most notable enhancements in skid resistance durability and high-temperature stability.According to calculations based on the grey target decision theory,the road performance of SMA-7 is optimal when 70%to 80%calcined bauxite is incorporated into the asphalt mixture.关键词
