Toxoplasma gondii Infection in Humans and Animals and Its Epidemiological Characteristics in China
摘要
Abstract
Toxoplasmosis is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by Toxoplasma gondii(T.gondii),posing a potential threat to human health and livestock industry. In order to investigate the status and distribution of T.gondii infection in humans and animals, literature published in Chinese or English was searched and reviewed, relevant data was summarized and analyzed. The results showed that the infection rate of T.gondii ranged from 0.72%to 23.41%in humans, and 29.4%in pigs, much higher than that in livestock and poultry including chickens(13.4%),cattle(10.1%)and sheep(8.5%)as well as companion animals(11.0%-20.0%)including dogs and cats.Except for pigs, the infection rate of T.gondii in animals tended to decrease over time, and the rate remained the highest in the southwest China, followed by the central and northwest China, and the lowest in the northeast China. In conclusion, toxoplasmosis was commonly present in humans, livestock, poultry and companion animals in China, and distributed with certain spatial and inter-group characteristics, but was controlled to a certain extent.Toxoplasmosis in animals should be intensively monitored to safeguard the safety of food for human consumption as well as human life and health, and to support livestock industry to develop regularly and rapidly.关键词
