Epidemiological Characteristics and Antimicrobial Resistance of Haemophilus parasuis Isolates in China

Abstract
Haemophilus parasuis(HPS)is one of the most important bacterial pathogens seriously threatening the development of pig industry.In order to investigate the epidemiological characteristics and antimicrobial resistance of HPS in recent years,the geographical and serotype distribution characteristics of 91 strains of HPS isolated from pigs dead of diseases on farms in 12 provinces from 2018 to 2023,as well as their biofilm-forming capacity and antimicrobial resistance were analyzed.The results showed that HPS isolates were detected in all the 12 provinces,dominated by serotypes 5(21.98%)and 4(17.58%),with large proportion of non-typable strains(19.78%).All the isolates were highly resistant to sulfonamides and more sensitive to polymyxin B and cefotaxime;their multidrug resistance rate was up to 94.51%,and different depending on different serotypes and regions.7 antimicrobial resistance genes including tetB,blaTEM,blaROB-1,sul1,sul2,ermB and mefA were carried by the isolates,especially tetB with the highest detection rate.In addition,80.22%HPS strains were able to form biofilms.In conclusion,HPS isolates were endemic in some regions of China,with multiple serotypes and a wide range of antimicrobial resistance spectrum,and a strong capacity to form biofilms.The epidemiological characteristics and antimicrobial resistance of HPS were revealed in the study,providing a basis and data support for the prevention and control of such pathogenic infection.关键词
