Establishment of High-Throughput Screening Database of Per-and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances(PFAS)in Cosmetics

Abstract
Cosmetics have become an indispensable part of daily life,raising increasing concerns about their safety.Among these concerns,per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFAS)are of high attention.PFAS are a class of persistent,bioaccumulative emerging contaminants(ECs)that,upon entering the human body,can cause a series of adverse health effects.The Stockholm Convention designated perfluorooctanesulfonic acid(PFOS)and pentadecafluorooctanoic acid(PFOA)as persistent organic pollutants and phased them out globally.Since then,various countries and regions have introduced regulatory policies to restrict the use and circulation of PFAS.This study reviews global PFAS regulations and establishes a high-resolution screening database containing 93 PFAS compounds for use in cosmetic analysis.In a screening of commercially available cosmetic products,one sample tested positive with a high PFAS content.The developed high-resolution screening database provides comprehensive compound coverage,including most commonly detected PFAS,ensuring high screening accuracy.This database offers strong technical support for nationwide PFAS screening in cosmetics and enhances regulatory efforts.关键词
