Epidemiological Investigation and Analysis of Cystoisospora suis and Other Gastrointestinal Parasites in Tibetan Pigs in Ganzi Prefecture,Sichuan Province
摘要
Abstract
To investigate the gastrointestinal parasite infections in Tibetan pigs from selected regions of Ganzi Prefecture,Sichuan Province, this study collected 415 fresh fecal samples from Tibetan pigs across six farming regions.Among them,353 samples were examined for parasite egg morphology using the saturated sugar-salt flotation method to determine infection rates and infection intensities. All samples were subjected to molecular amplification and phylogenetic analysis of Cystoisospora suis based on the internal transcribed spacer-1(ITS-1)gene locus.Statistical analyses were conducted to assess the differences in parasite infections among pigs of different ages, feeding methods, seasons, and health statuses(presence of diarrhea and deworming history)based on questionnaire survey data.Morphological observations identified two types of gastrointestinal parasites:nematodes and coccidia, with an overall infection rate of 73.94%(261/353).The infection rates for coccidia and nematodes were 58.36%(206/353)and 50.14%(177/353),respectively,with Ascaris being the most prevalent nematode, accounting for 37.96%(134/353)of infections.McMaster counting results showed that the average oocysts per gram(OPG)count for coccidia was 3 923.62±6 660.12,while the average eggs per gram(EPG)count for nematodes was 990.49±514.51.PCR results indicated that the overall positivity rate for Cystoisospora suis was 45.06%(187/415),with free-range Tibetan pigs showing the highest infection rate at 68.89%(31/45).Diarrheal pigs exhibited a significantly higher infection rate than healthy pigs(χ²=4.93,P<0.05).Comparative analysis indicated that gastrointestinal parasitic infections were most prevalent during the summer, with particularly severe infections reported in Seda County and Luding County. The overall infection rate in piglets was significantly higher than in adult pigs(χ²=13.85,P<0.01).Diarrheal pigs had a significantly higher total infection rate than healthy pigs(χ²=5.09,P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in the overall infection rate among Tibetan pigs raised under different feeding methods(P>0.05).No significant difference was observed in nematode infection rates between dewormed and non-dewormed pigs(P>0.05).The results indicate that gastrointestinal parasite infections are highly prevalent among Tibetan pigs in certain regions of Ganzi Prefecture. These findings provide theoretical and data support for the prevention and control of parasitic diseases in the region.关键词
