Effects of GnRH or HCG Treatment During Early Luteal Phase on Serum Hormone Levels and Reproductive Performance in Simmental Beef Cattle

Abstract
To investigate the effects of gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH)or human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG)treatment during the early luteal phase on serum hormone levels and reproductive performance in Simmental beef cattle,60 reproductively normal cows were randomly divided into three groups(n=20 per group).After estrus synchronization and artificial insemination(AI),cows in the GnRH group were intramuscularly injected with GnRH(200 μg/head)on day 5 post-AI,while those in the HCG group received an intramuscular injection of HCG(3 000 IU/head).The Control group received physiological saline.Serum progestin(P4),estradiol(E2),and interferon-tau(IFNT)levels were measured on days 5 and 14 post-AI.Pregnancy diagnosis was conducted on day 45 post-AI,and pregnancy rate,calving rate,and calf birth weight were recorded.The results showed that on day 14 post-AI,serum P4 and IFNT levels in the GnRH and HCG groups were significantly higher than those in the Control group(P<0.05),while serum E2 levels were significantly lower(P<0.05).Pregnancy rate,calving rate,and calf birth weight were higher in the GnRH and HCG groups than in the Control group,although the differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05).These findings indicate that GnRH or HCG treatment during the early luteal phase significantly increases serum P4 and IFNT levels while significantly decreasing serum E2 levels,leading to a 10%-15%increase in pregnancy rate.This study provides a reference for improving beef cattle reproductive efficiency and promoting high-efficiency production.关键词
