Abstract

Objective To study the difference in macular pigment optical density(MPOD)in bilateral eyes of ado-lescents with myopia anisometropia,and to explore the correlation between MPOD and spherical diopter.Methods Patients aged 8 to 18 years with a bilateral difference in spherical diopter≥1.00D were selected,the spherical diopter standard tested according computerized refraction under cycloplegia.Spectral fundus reflectometry was employed to assess the mean macular optical pigment density(Mean MPOD)and maximum macular optical pigment density(Max MPOD)Addition-ally,a comparative analysis of Mean MPOD and Max MPOD in both eyes was conducted,along with an exploration of the correlation between MPOD and spherical diopters.Results A total of 56 adolescents with anisometropia with 112 eyes were included in this study,and the findings revealed that the Mean MPOD of the low-spherical diopter eyes was significantly lower than those of the high-spherical diopter eyes(P<0.001).Similarly,the Max MPOD of the low-spherical diopter eyes was lower than that of the high-spherical diopter eyes(P<0.001).Furthermore,both Mean MPOD and Max MPOD showed a positive correlation with spherical diopters in both groups.Conclusions The Mean MPOD and Max MPOD of low-spherical diopters eyes were lower than in eyes with high-spherical diopters in adolescents with anisometropia myopia.Additionally,both Mean MPOD and Max MPOD showed a positive correlation with myopia spherical diopters.
