Effects of Levetiracetam on Cognitive and Electroencephalogram in Children with Neurodevelopmental Disorder Comorbidities Epileptiform Discharges

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effects of Levetiracetam on cognition and electroencephalography in children with neurodevelopmental disorder comorbidities epileptiform discharges.Method:A total of 100 clinical children with neurodevelopmental disorder comorbidities epileptiform discharges treated in Ganzhou Women and Children's Health Care Hospital from January 2019 to June 2023 were selected and divided into two groups according random number table method,with 50 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Tiapride and Haloperidol,and the observation group was treated with Levetiracetam on the basis of control group.The improvement of electroencephalography,incidence of epilepsy,cognitive function,quality of life and incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups were compared.Result:The total effective rate of improvement electroencephalography in observation group was higher than that in control group,and the incidence of epilepsy was lower than that in control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in cognitive function and quality of life between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment,the scores of all dimensions of Gesell development diagnosis scale(GDDS)and the pediatric quality of life inventory version 4.0 generic core scale(PedsQL4.0)in observation group were higher than those in control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:Levetiracetam has a significant effect on treating children with neurodevelopmental disorder comorbidities epileptiform discharges,it can improve electroencephalogram,reduce the risk of epileptic seizures,promote cognitive function and improve quality of life,and has high safety.关键词
