Exploring Action Mechanism of Acupuncture in Treating ASD Based on Gut Microbiota
摘要
Abstract
Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)is a neurodevelopmental condition with an unclear etiology.In recent years,increasing research has highlighted the role of gut microbiota via the gut-brain axis,a bidirectional communication system between the brain and the gut,which transmits information through neural,endocrine,and immune pathways.These mechanisms play significant roles in both the onset and treatment of ASD.Studies indicate that gastrointestinal symptoms are more pronounced in individuals with ASD compared to neurotypical individuals,potentially liked to gut microbiota dysbiosis.Acupuncture,as a traditional Chinese medicine therapy,has been widely applied in microbiome research.It may exert therapeutic effects on ASD patients by modulating gut microbiota,influencing neurotransmitters,inflammatory responses,and the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal(HPA)axis.This review summarizes existing research findings,emphasizing the potential role of acupuncture in regulating gut microbiota to influence the gut-brain axis and improve ASD symptoms.关键词
