Abstract

Aimed at the problem that it is difficult to optimize the efficiency of a single-phase Boost active power factor correction(APFC)converter at a low cost,an optimal design method for the efficiency of the converter based on a La-grange multiplier method is proposed.First,an analytical method for precisely calculating the current flowing through all the components of the converter in continuous conduction mode(CCM)is proposed,which is used to estimate the er-rors between theoretical and simulation results.Second,the analytical expressions for the total volume of passive compo-nents and the converter efficiency are derived.Finally,with the consideration of the constraints of maximum magnetic flux density and current ripple ratio,the Lagrange multiplier method is used to solve the switching frequency and boost inductance required for the optimal efficiency and power density of the converter.Experimental results show that the peak efficiency of a prototype reached 96.81%and the design error was lower than 0.1%,indicating that the proposed method can effectively improve the efficiency of the single-phase Boost APFC converter.
