Abstract

Iron nickel spinel sulfide(FeNi2S4)catalysts were prepared by a hydrothermal method.The structure and surface morphology of the FeNi2S4 catalyst were characterized by XRD,EDS,SEM and FT-IR.The catalytic activity of FeNi2S4 for activating peroxymonosulfate to degrade tetracycline hydrochloride(TCH)was evaluated using TCH as a pollutant model.The experimental results showed that the degradation efficiency of 15 mg/L TCH reached 93.1%within 60 min at room temperature with the addition of 100 mg/L catalyst and 400 mg/L oxidant.Radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)analyses demonstrated that sulfate radicals,hydroxyl radicals,singlet oxygen and superoxide radicals generated by activated PMS with FeNi2S4 all involved in the removal process of TCH.The degradation efficiency of TCH by the catalyst still reached 88.1%after four cycles.FeNi2S4 shows good reusability and is an effective catalyst for wastewater treatment.
