Preparation and Performance Study of Modified Coconut Shell Fiber for Indoor Decorative Panels

Abstract
In order to improve the utilization efficiency of natural plant fibers,coconut shell fibers were used as raw materials and modified by acid washing,boiling,and soaking in chemical modification solutions.A modified coconut shell fiber suitable for indoor decorative panels was prepared,and its water absorption,friction,thermal stability,and mechanical properties of composite materials were evaluated.The results showed that as the soaking time of the chemically modified solution gradually increased,the water absorption rate of the modified coconut shell fibers decreased and the friction coefficient increased.The recommended optimal soaking time was 5 hours,at which point the modified coconut shell fibers had a lower water absorption rate and a higher friction coefficient.The thermal stability of coconut shell fiber before and after modification is relatively good,and there is no significant quality loss of the fiber at temperature below 200 ℃.As the mass fraction of modified coconut shell fibers gradually increases,the tensile strength,bending strength,and impact strength of the composite material show a trend of first increasing and then decreasing.When the mass fraction of modified coconut shell fibers is 50%,the mechanical properties of the composite material reach their optimum.关键词
