Correlation Analysis of Sperm DNA Fragmentation Rate with Other Semen Parameters

Abstract
Objective:to analyze the correlation between sperm DNA fragmentation rate and other semen examination parameters.Meth-ods:Clinical data and semen-related examination results of patients who attended the Department of Men′s Medicine of the First Affili-ated Hospital of Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine for sperm DNA fragmentation rate testing from February 2024 to July 2024 were collected,and the correlation between sperm DNA fragmentation rate and other data was analyzed retrospectively.Results:A total of 390 cases of patients were collected,390 cases of sperm DNA fragmentation rate,390 cases of age,387 cases of semen volume,390 cases of semen pH,390 cases of semen liquefaction,390 cases of sperm concentration,390 cases of sperm forward motility,390 ca-ses of sperm non-forward motility,388 cases of sperm non-forward motility percentage data,388 cases of sperm immobility percentage data,374 cases of normal sperm percentage data,182 cases of acrosomal enzyme activity data,and 268 cases of anti-sperm membrane antibody data;among them,age showed a weak positive correlation with sperm DNA fragmentation rate(P=0.001,r=0.173),there was no significant linear correlation between semen volume and sperm DNA fragmentation rate(P=0.490,r=0.035),and there was no significant linear correlation between semen pH and sperm DNA fragmentation rate.fragmentation rate(P=0.623,r=-0.250),semen liquefaction and sperm DNA fragmentation rate(P=0.426,r=-0.040),sperm concentration and sperm DNA fragmentation rate(P=0.347,r=-0.480),and sperm forward motility percentage showed a moderate negative correlation with sperm DNA frag-mentation rate(P<0.001,r=-0.489),low negative correlation between sperm non-forward motility percentage and sperm DNA fragmentation rate(P<0.001,r=-0.301),moderate positive correlation between sperm immobility percentage and sperm DNA frag-mentation rate(P<0.001,r=0.510),and low negative correlation between normal sperm percentage and sperm DNA fragmentation rate(P<0.001,r=-0.350),acrosomal enzyme activity showed a low negative correlation with sperm DNA fragmentation rate(P<0.001,r=-0.337),and there was no significant linear correlation between anti-spermatozoa membrane antibody and sperm DNA fragmentation rate(P=0.792,r=0.016).Conclusion:It is recommended that sperm DNA fragmentation rate testing be included in routine screening when treating elderly infertile patients with low forward sperm motility percentage and high sperm immobility percent-age and low percentage of normal sperm.In the process of treating infertility patients with high sperm DNA fragmentation rate,the trend of sperm DNA fragmentation rate can be inferred by referring to sperm forward motility percentage,sperm non-forward motility percent-age,sperm immobility percentage,and normal sperm percentage,to reduce the frequency of sperm DNA fragmentation rate testing,thus reducing the patient′s medical cost.In the process of treating infertile patients with elevated sperm DNA fragmentation rate,detailed per-sonal information should be collected from the patients,especially focusing on the nature of their work,working environment,living envi-ronment,dietary and work habits,personal hobbies and other information,in order to further deepen the research on sperm DNA dam-age.关键词
