Abstract

Citrus peel residue,a by-product of citrus processing,is rich in essential oils but is often discarded,leading to resource waste and environmental pollution.Explores the extraction method of citrus essential oil and its application to cotton fabrics;supercritical carbon dioxide(SCFE-CO2)technology was used to extract essen-tial oil from citrus peel residues.The experimental method was adjusted using the Response Surface Method of Experimentation(RSM-BBD),and the extraction rate reached 30.11 mg/g at the optimal conditions(solid-liquid ratio of 1∶12 g/mL,extraction pressure of 20 MPa,and extraction period of 90.3 min).According to GC-MS analysis of the pure essential oil's composition,limonene accounted for 51%of the total.Additionally,the mos-quito repellent emulsion made of extracted essential oil was finished onto cotton fabrics by dip-rolling using the adhesive property of acrylate emulsion.Tests were conducted on the cotton fabrics before and after finishing to determine their antioxidant activity,mosquito repellent property,mechanical property,air permeability,and washing resistance.The findings demonstrated that the antioxidant activity of the mosquito repellent-finished cotton fabric was 88.85%,the mosquito repellent rate was 90.17%,and the breaking strength was increased by 33.3%.
