Abstract

Marine oil spill accidents cause serious damage to the surrounding water bodies and the aquatic ecosystems,making it crucial to conduct an in-depth research on the diffusion patterns of pollutants after an oil spill accident.Using 0#diesel was taken as a typical pollutant,and a wave flume experimental system was utilized to investigate the vertical diffusion characteristics of the spilled oil in water under regular wave conditions.A mathematical model was constructed to describe the relationships among the oil spill concentration,wave height,water depth,and the amount of oil leakage.The results showed that wave action significantly increased the vertical diffusion of oil spills in water.There was a significant positive correlation between the oil spill concentration and both the wave height and the amount of oil leakage(the goodness of fit of the exponential function,R²>0.97).As the water depth increased,the oil spill concentration showed a significant negative exponential decay trend.Based on the experimental results,a theoretical equation for the vertical distribution of the oil spill concentration was successfully established.This study provided theoretical basis and technical reference for water quality forecasting,early warning and emergency measures after oil spill accidents.
