Abstract

International Chinese education publishing serves an important role in supporting the building of a leading country in education and in establishing an efficient international communication system.This study investigates the development of international Chinese education publishing from four dimensions:status,features,challenges,and prospects,aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of the field and offer insights for future policy and practice.First,the study reviews the notable progress made in recent years in both the standardization of international Chinese education and the development of international Chinese language textbooks and related resources.It identifies four key characteristics of this field:standardization,digitization,integration,and collective intelligence.Standardization ensures the scientificity and objectivity of international Chinese education publishing by establishing clear benchmarks that guide the production and application of educational publishing products.Digitization expands the communication channels by incorporating digital textbooks,platforms,and tools,thereby enhancing the flexibility and interactivity of Chinese learning for global learners.Integration provides systematic learning pathways by consolidating international Chinese language textbooks,learning resources,and digital platforms,designed to meet the diverse needs of learners from various backgrounds.Collective intelligence is manifested through global cooperation,which can be seen by the publication of multi-language international Chinese textbooks,the localization of interactional Chinese textbooks,and frequent international exchanges.The study then highlights several challenges that have emerged during the development process.Specifically,the current standardization system still requires further refinement and upgrades to meet evolving educational demands.Intelligent digital technologies,although promising,have yet to be fully applied within the field,limiting the potential for a truly smart education publishing environment.Additionally,the level of enhancement and quality improvement in resource integration remains insufficient,with many materials and platforms still operating independently rather than coordinately.Moreover,the aggregation and sharing of global intelligence need to be further strengthened,as there is an ongoing need to improve the mechanisms for international collaboration and knowledge exchange.Based on these findings,the study outlines future trends and proposes four developmental directions:upgrading standardization,empowerment through intelligent technologies,accelerating integration,and consolidating collective intelligence.Upgrading standardization refers to the future establishment of a more diversified,multi-layered,and scientifically based standardization system in international Chinese education publishing.Empowerment through intelligent technologies indicates that the field will continuously enhance its intelligent capabilities,thereby entering a more personalized phase of education publishing that meets individual learner needs.Accelerating integration is expected to achieve an efficient collaborative system that seamlessly connects talents,resources,and technology,integrating the entire chain of textbook writing,publishing,dissemination,and application.Consolidating collective intelligence means that the field will strengthen knowledge sharing of and wisdom co-creation,thus realizing a more comprehensive,intelligence-driven international Chinese education alliance.This study provides insights and support for enhancing the global influence of international Chinese education,advancing the high-quality development of international Chinese education publishing,and ultimately contributing to the construction of a leading country in education.
