Open reduction and lengthened intramedullary nail fixation for the treatment of femoral sub-trochanteric fracture

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of open reduction and lengthened intramedullary nail fixation on femo-ral subtrochanteric fracture.Methods The 34 patients with femoral subtrochanteric fractures were treated with open reduction and lengthened intramedullary nail fixation.Fracture reduction,postoperative complications and recovery of hip function were recorded.Results All patients were followed up for 12～35(15.6±6.8)months.Burwell-Charnley criteria were used to evaluate the fracture reduction after operation:26 cases were excellent-good,8 cases were fair.Fat liquefaction exudation occurred in 2 cases and delayed fracture healing occurred in 3 cases.At the last follow-up,Harris score was used to evaluate the recovery of hip function:25 cases were excellent,6 cases were good,and 3 cases were fair,with an excellent and good rate of 91.2％.Conclusions Open reduction and length-ened intramedullary nail fixation in the treatment of femoral subtrochanteric fracture can better expose the fracture end and reduce it,and can achieve strong fixation effect,which can promote fracture healing and restore hip joint func-tion.关键词
