Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of simultaneous unicondylar knee arthroplasty(UKA)in the treat-ment of elderly patients with bilateral anteromedial osteoarthritis(AMOA)of both knees. Methods Fifty-two elderly patients with bilateral knees AMOA who were treated with simultaneous UKA were divided into two groups according to age:elderly group(≥75 years,24 cases)and younger aged group(<75 years,28 cases). The surgical time,maxi-mum decrease value in hemoglobin within one week after surgery, postoperative drainage volume, blood transfusion sta-tus,and incidence of postoperative complications were recorded.Pain VAS was used to evaluate the degree of knee joint pain.HSS score and knee flexion range of motion were used to evaluate knee joint function. Results All patients were followed up for 6~24 months. There were no cases of blood transfusion in both groups after surgery. There were no postoperative complications such as knee dislocation, periprosthetic infection,or prosthesis loosening in both groups;there was no statistical difference in the incidence of other complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Surgical time, postoperative drainage volume, and maximum decrease value in hemoglobin within one week after sur-gery:There was no statistical difference between the two groups(P>0.05).Pain VAS,knee flexion range of motion,HSS score:At the last follow-up,both groups showed better scores than before surgery(P<0.05);there was no statis-tical difference between the two groups at the last follow-up(P>0.05).Conclusions Simultaneous UKA treatment for bilateral knees AMOA has the advantages of short surgical time, low blood transfusion rate, and satisfactory early recovery effect.Patients can benefit from once hospitalization and anesthesia. With the assistance of rapid rehabilita-tion technique, elderly AMOA patients can also choose simultaneous UKA treatment, which can achieve the same effi-cacy as younger aged AMOA patients.关键词
