Research progress in the classification and treatment of magnetic resonance imaging in pa-tients with basilar invagination and atlantoaxial dislocation

Abstract
Basilar invagination is a pathological condition involving abnormal skull base structure,often accompanied by atlan-toaxial dislocation,leading to severe neurological impairment and clinical symptoms.In recent years,magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),as an important imaging technique,has played a key role in the diagnosis and classification of this disease.This article re-viewed the MRI classification methods of basilar invagination and the accompanying atlantoaxial dislocation,and explored the relevant researches on the impacts of different types of basilar invagination on clinical manifestations and prognosis.At the same time,the treatment progress of this disease in recent years,including the effectiveness and indications of conservative treatment and surgical in-tervention,was reviewed.Through the analysis of existing literature,this review aimed to provide clinicians with the latest under-standing of basilar invagination,promote early diagnosis and the formulation of individualized treatment strategies,and improve the o-verall prognosis of patients.关键词
